Client: PDC Engineering
Location: Raleigh, North Carolina
Employment Type: Direct Hire
Electrical Designer
Raleigh, NC (Hybrid)
Starting Pay: $100,000/year
Position: Electrical Systems Designer / Consulting Engineer
Location: Hybrid | Multidisciplinary MEP Design Team
About the Role:
We’re seeking an electrical design professional with solid experience in power distribution, lighting systems, life safety (fire alarm), and communications infrastructure within complex buildings. This role is rooted in producing high-quality construction documents and participating in the full lifecycle of facility design—serving public and private sector clients across education, healthcare, tech, government, and commercial markets.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Develop electrical layouts and detailed drawings for building systems using Revit and AutoCAD, following industry and in-house CAD standards
Select and specify electrical components and equipment—panels, transformers, lighting fixtures, communication gear, etc.
Visit job sites to gather existing condition data, then translate that field intel into accurate design documents
Coordinate with architects, engineers, and building owners during all phases of the project—from early studies to project close-out
Participate in technical planning, schematic design, construction documentation, and construction administration
Review technical submittals and ensure selected products align with design intent and code requirements
Balance multiple active projects while staying responsive, detail-oriented, and engaged in collaborative team settings
What You Bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or similar
5+ years of relevant experience in building systems design, preferably within a consulting or construction engineering firm
E.I.T. or PE Preferred not mandatory
High proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit for electrical system layout and documentation
Solid understanding of applicable codes and standards for power, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems
Strong written and verbal communication skills—clarity and professionalism are key
Ability to manage your workload independently while contributing to multidisciplinary projects
Additional Notes:
This position is best suited to someone hands-on with contract document production—the bread and butter of this team. If you’re comfortable taking a building from site survey through detailed design to final specs (and everything in between), you’re likely a great fit. The job is about more than just drawing—it’s about delivering real-world solutions for real-world buildings.
Military experience equivalency may substitute for some requirements.
