NE – Sr Mechanical Designer

Starting Pay: $60.88/hour
Job Description:
The individual selected for this position will be an experienced Mechanical Designer who is a problem solver with diverse technical capabilities and sound design and geometrical tolerance fundamentals to support engineering, design, analysis, product definition and product build process. Must also be able to delegate tasks to Designers, Drafters and Checkers from conceptual to production release.
Responsibilities:
- Utilize computer-aided design equipment and/or graphic tools to design components, systems, portion of systems and modify existing designs to develop or improve production.
- Support mechanical and electro-mechanical hardware design efforts from conceptual layouts through detailed design.
- Conduct design trade studies, volume packaging and tolerance analysis Plan, execute, develop, release and control product definition data (engineering models and drawings)
- Take ownership of design specifications and ensure they are met on final product. Work closely with technicians in the generation and assembly of prototype/engineering hardware and test equipment.
- Work within a broader engineering team, capable of communicating across functional boundaries to solve problems and achieve common goals. Create, maintain, and update engineering records and files as appropriate.
- Perform Configuration Change Orders and Change Actions (ECOs) as required. Work on SAP/SAR or similar closed programs on-site in secure areas Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate degree in engineering sciences field or equivalent work experience
- 10+ years of experience in the Mechanical Design Drafting profession, with a minimum 3 years specifically assigned Senior role
- Familiarity with comprehensive design process including conceptual development, physical design, support to procurement and manufacturing.
- Familiar with standard manufacturing practices for the efficient fabrication of mechanical components and assemblies.
- Strong understanding of GD&T in accordance with ASME Y14.5
- Good written, verbal, and virtual communication skills.
- Proficient using PTC CREO Parametric and file management systems
- Active DoD Security Clearance
Military experience equivalency may substitute for some requirements.
