Tool Designer / Tooling Engineer
Newington, CT / Brunswick, ME
Pay Range: $65K – $85K/year

Job Description:
We’re seeking a Tool Designer / Tooling Engineer to support the design and development of manufacturing tools, fixtures, jigs, and production aids for a precision machining environment. This role works closely with engineering, CNC programming, and production teams to improve manufacturability, efficiency, and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop tooling, fixtures, jigs, gauges, and production aids
• Produce detailed 3D models and 2D drawings (Creo preferred)
• Collaborate with engineers and machinists to ensure tooling meets requirements
• Support prototype, production, and continuous-improvement tooling efforts
• Apply GD&T and perform basic tolerance analysis
• Update existing tools for performance or efficiency improvements
• Maintain documentation, BOMs, and revision control

Required Qualifications:

• 2–5 years of experience in tool design, tooling engineering, or mechanical design
• Proficiency with 3D CAD (Creo preferred, SolidWorks acceptable)
• Understanding of machining processes, CNC operations, and GD&T
• Ability to create accurate mechanical drawings and tooling layouts
• Strong mechanical aptitude, communication, and problem-solving skills

Required Qualifications:

• Experience in aerospace, defense, or precision manufacturing
• Familiarity with Creo NC, CAM, or hands-on machining (nice-to-have)
• Exposure to PLM systems (e.g., Windchill)
• Experience in ISO/AS9100 environments

Military experience equivalency may substitute for some requirements.
