Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8.30AM-5.30PM
Pay Range: $112-$146K/year
Job Description:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Deputy Project Manager I to support the successful execution of complex engineering and technical projects. This role works closely with the Project Manager and cross-functional teams to coordinate project activities, manage documentation, track schedules, and support vendor and customer communications.
This position is an entry-level role within the Deputy Project Manager career path, offering an excellent opportunity for an engineering professional to transition into project leadership responsibilities. The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical foundation, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
The Deputy Project Manager I plays a critical role in ensuring projects remain aligned with contractual, technical, and financial objectives, while supporting the delivery of high-quality solutions to customers.
Military experience equivalency may substitute for some requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Project Manager in day-to-day project execution and coordination of internal teams
- Track project progress and assist in maintaining schedules, milestones, and deliverables
- Coordinate cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, procurement, and quality
- Assist with risk identification and support development of mitigation and contingency plans
- Support vendor management activities including production schedules, delivery tracking, and issue resolution
- Coordinate communication between internal teams, customers, and suppliers
- Assist in monitoring vendor performance and supporting resolution of project-related challenges
- Maintain project documentation including meeting minutes, correspondence, reports, and tracking logs
- Track action items, deliverables, and project status updates
- Assist with preparation of project reports, presentations, and customer communications
- Support contract and project documentation management to ensure compliance
- Monitor project schedules, milestones, and key deliverables
- Assist in identifying project risks and tracking mitigation strategies
- Support planning and execution of project reviews and status meetings
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Systems Engineering
- Minimum 5 years of experience in project management, project engineering, or project administration
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Experience coordinating meetings and managing project documentation
- Proficiency with project tracking tools and computer systems
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced technical environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the rail industry or related transportation, infrastructure, or manufacturing environments
- Mechanical, electrical, or systems design experience
- Experience working with engineering-driven or technical projects
- Familiarity with project lifecycle management and engineering development processes
