Job Description:
We are seeking a highly analytical Mechanical Engineer with expertise in structural and thermal analysis to support the development of advanced electronic systems used in mission-critical applications. This is an excellent opportunity to work on technically challenging hardware while collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams responsible for designing rugged, high-performance electronic assemblies.
In this role, you will perform structural, vibration, shock, fatigue, and thermal analyses of electronic hardware, including circuit card assemblies (CCAs) and chassis structures. You’ll be responsible for developing simulation models, evaluating design performance, documenting engineering analyses, and providing recommendations that directly influence product reliability and performance.
This position is well suited for an engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems, working independently, and supporting products throughout the engineering design lifecycle.
Military experience equivalency may substitute for some requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform structural analysis of electronic assemblies, chassis, and mechanical components using finite element analysis (FEA) tools.
- Conduct vibration, shock, static load, and fatigue analyses to evaluate structural integrity and product reliability.
- Perform thermal modeling and thermal performance assessments of electronic hardware and packaging.
- Develop analytical models, interpret simulation results, and recommend design improvements.
- Generate comprehensive engineering reports and present technical findings to design teams.
- Collaborate closely with mechanical, electrical, and systems engineers throughout product development.
- Support design verification activities and contribute to engineering reviews.
- Ensure engineering analyses are completed accurately and in accordance with project schedules and technical requirements.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline from an ABET-accredited university.
- Approximately 8–10 years of experience performing structural and thermal analysis of mechanical or electronic hardware.
- Strong experience performing: Structural analysis , Random vibration analysis , Shock analysis , Static loading analysis , Fatigue analysis, and Thermal analysis
- Proficiency using NASTRAN for structural analysis.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple engineering priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly document technical analyses and present findings.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Experience analyzing circuit card assemblies (CCAs) and electronic chassis structures.
- Experience using Simcenter 3D for structural and thermal modeling.
- Experience using Icepak for electronic thermal analysis.
- Familiarity with solder joint reliability analysis, including low- and high-cycle fatigue.
- Experience performing acoustic loading analysis.
- Knowledge of pressure drop and coolant flow analysis for electronic cooling solutions, including cold plate applications.
- Experience supporting ruggedized electronics or other high-reliability hardware systems.
Military experience equivalency may substitute for some requirements.
