Job Description:
The Design Engineer is responsible for developing 2D and 3D models, drawings, and layouts for vehicle parts and assemblies in support of armored vehicle production. This role requires the ability to independently resolve complex design challenges and manage non-routine assignments while ensuring accuracy and manufacturability. The position plays a key role in supporting production through design optimization, engineering changes, and cross-functional collaboration in a mission-driven manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Create detailed designs for metal fabricated parts and assemblies using SolidWorks 3D
• Develop full vehicle models and generate production-ready documentation
• Manage engineering files and documentation using PDM and ERP systems
• Independently manage multiple design projects with varying levels of complexity and urgency
• Collaborate with production teams to review designs and resolve manufacturing issues
• Complete Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) to update and improve existing designs
• Develop and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) for manufactured and purchased components
• Drive process improvements through design optimization and enhanced manufacturing techniques
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, or a related field
• Minimum 5+ years of mechanical design or related experience
• At least 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
• Strong proficiency in SolidWorks
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet strict deadlines
Military experience equivalency may substitute for some requirements.
