Acceptance Supervisor

Pay Range: $71K-$82K/year
Job Description:
The Acceptance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all Acceptance processes at designated sites, ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with KRC’s Management Policy. This role requires strong leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to manage personnel, schedules, budgets, and compliance with company and customer requirements.
Military experience equivalency may substitute for some requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement business strategies aligned with Management Policy.
- Lead and manage personnel, including selecting, training, and developing employees; planning for succession; providing counseling; administering discipline; and handling HR matters in accordance with company policies.
- Establish and enforce work standards, procedures, and schedules; assign and review work; take corrective actions for inadequate performance; and approve work schedules and time reports.
- Supervise, control, and monitor all Acceptance processes at site locations, ensuring adherence to company schedules and work plans.
- Provide direction to Acceptance personnel and maintain labor hour budgets; routinely submit required reports to the Site Manager.
- Motivate and guide employees while addressing disciplinary matters per company policy.
- Evaluate training needs and recommend appropriate development programs for staff.
- Maintain responsibility for the safety of all employees and visitors in testing areas, ensuring compliance with company and customer safety policies.
- Oversee acquisition and management of general test equipment and the calibration program within the Acceptance department.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Production, Quality, and Customer teams to investigate and resolve product issues, defects, and open Acceptance items.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work environment through daily housekeeping and monitoring of safety practices.
- Ensure compliance with QA non-conforming product procedures, including timely notification to suppliers and thorough documentation of discrepancies per company requirements.
- Prepare daily activity schedules and coordinate progress with Production and Customer representatives.
- Maintain complete documentation on Acceptance testing and submit original records to the Car History Books.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in warranty, production, quality, or engineering management within a manufacturing environment; an associate degree in electrical or mechanical engineering preferred and may substitute for some experience.
- Proven ability to direct and coordinate acceptance site activities to meet company delivery schedules.
- Strong communication, customer relations, and problem-solving skills with the ability to foster effective teamwork.
- Proficient in computer use and reporting, with sound reasoning and judgment capabilities.
- Safety-oriented and capable of working in an active rail car environment.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 40 lbs.
- Willingness to travel and work at remote sites as required.
