Job Title: Associate Data Movement Engineer (Talend)

Job Description:
We are seeking an Associate Data Movement Engineer to support the design, development, and ongoing support of ETL/ELT pipelines as the environment evolves toward more modern and cloud-enabled architectures.
This role partners closely with data architects, analysts, and BI developers to enable reliable, high-quality data movement across multiple systems. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable supporting multiple data workflows in a production environment while contributing to continuous improvement efforts.

Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in the full lifecycle of ETL/ELT development, including design, development, testing, scheduling, and deployment
- Translate business and data movement requirements into technical solutions and data integration designs
- Build and maintain data extractions and outbound data feeds to third-party vendors
- Develop test plans, execute unit testing, and create supporting technical documentation
- Assess impacts to data warehouse structures and downstream reporting resulting from business or technical changes
- Provide ongoing production support for data integration solutions, including on-call and after-hours support as needed
- Investigate data load failures, performance bottlenecks, and data quality issues; perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
- Monitor batch and streaming workflows across ETL and orchestration platforms
- Contribute to architectural discussions and pipeline optimization initiatives
- Implement data validation, reconciliation, and cleansing logic to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Collaborate with data engineers and analysts to improve performance and reliability of data pipelines
- Support audits, compliance reviews, and operational reporting related to data processes
- Maintain detailed documentation for ETL jobs, schedules, workflows, and recurring issues
- Automate routine operational tasks and enhance monitoring and alerting capabilities
- Estimate development and testing effort for assigned work
- Perform additional related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least one (1) year of experience working in data warehousing, data integration, ETL development, or related data domains.
- Minimum one (1) year of hands-on SQL development experience across relational database platforms.
- Solid understanding of ETL/ELT concepts, data transformations, and data integration best practices.
- Hands-on experience with ETL tools; exposure to Talend strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with legacy ETL platforms (such as SAP BODI) is a plus.
- Experience using job orchestration and scheduling tools (e.g., Airflow).
- Working knowledge of data warehouse modeling concepts, including normalized and dimensional data structures.
- Experience troubleshooting production data issues and supporting operational data workflows.
- Familiarity with incident tracking or ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira).
- Exposure to CI/CD concepts and cloud-based data technologies.
- Understanding of real-time or event-driven data processing environments is beneficial.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional technical and business teams.
