Bilingual Customer Service Specialist (French/English)
New Haven, CT (Hybrid – Occasional office visits required
Pay Range: $45K-$55K/year
Note: Applicants must perform a French oral exam
Overview
We are seeking a bilingual Customer Service Specialist fluent in English and French. This role involves responding to a wide range of phone and email inquiries, providing detailed knowledge of insurance and annuity products, and supporting members with accurate, professional, and courteous service.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage callers by asking clarifying questions, analyzing concerns, and providing appropriate solutions.
- Utilize internal systems to research and resolve inquiries regarding:
- Life insurance policies (legacy and current)
- Ownership rights, cash values, accounting, and taxation
- Tax-sheltered and non-tax-sheltered annuities (FPA, SPA, Vantage, SPIA)
- Settlement options and fraternal program rules
- Follow proper procedures for releasing policyholder information while ensuring compliance with privacy guidelines.
- Escalate requests or coordinate with other departments when necessary to ensure resolution.
- Review and respond to email inquiries, or direct them to the appropriate department.
- Provide French/English translation support across business areas when needed.
- Stay up to date with product updates, departmental communications, and organizational changes.
- Perform additional customer service duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Proven ability to deliver excellent customer service by building trust and ensuring satisfaction.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to remain professional and empathetic in conversation.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume call center environment.
- Willingness to learn new skills, adapt quickly to changes, and apply feedback for growth.
- Strong computer proficiency and multitasking ability.
- Must be fluent in French Canadian; Spanish fluency a plus.
Compensation
Salary will be commensurate with bilingual proficiency and experience.
Military experience equivalency may substitute for some requirements.
