Design Specialist

Pay Range: $48.00-$52.00/hour

Job Description:

Sr. Designer to support program initiatives. Creates innovative and practical mechanical and electro-mechanical concepts and designs for components, assemblies, tools, and products of varying complexity. Works closely with engineering, vendors, manufacturing, quality, and customers on design specifications. Ensures designs are free of layout process defects. May assist engineers with defining design standards and configurations. Computer Aided Design (CAD) methodologies, theories, and techniques. Reviews various completed engineering documents to ensure compliance with engineering and military standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensions. Provides expert technical consultation to the division and customer community relative to comprehensive and in-depth knowledge of design. Current Creo 9 experience required. MBD experiences a huge plus.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensures designs are free of layout process defects
• Create innovative and practical mechanical and electro-mechanical concepts and designs for components and varying complexity.
• Defining design standards, procedures, specifications and accuracy of calculation and dimensions.
• Must have experience with CREO 9 and GD&T with 3 D modeling, to demonstrate and work with complex military standards.

Required Qualifications:

• CREO 9 EXPERIENCE A MUST HAVE
• Minimum 9 years of design/drafting experience using Pro-E/Creo CAD Systems
• Proficient in tolerancing analysis and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
• Must have 3D modeling and manipulation of files.
• Comprehensive knowledge of military drawings and specifications, and MILSPEC/STDS.
• Comprehensive knowledge of production methods and understanding of human factors.

             
Preferred Qualifications:

• Strongly prefer Systems Combat Vehicle experience.
• Knowledge of MBD (model Based Definition)

Military experience equivalency may substitute for some requirements.
