Job Title: Field Engineer

Pay Range: $85-123k
Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled Field Engineer to perform complex troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair on advanced rail car systems, including electrical, electronic, and mechanical components such as ATC (Automatic Train Control), ACSES (Advanced Civil Speed Enforcement System), and braking systems. The ideal candidate will apply advanced techniques to ensure rail car reliability, reduce downtime, and support engineering and testing activities.
Military experience equivalency may substitute for some requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform complex troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of rail car electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems.
- Analyze failures to minimize rail car downtime through root cause analysis and implement engineering solutions.
- Support all aspects of testing, including Engineering Tests and Conditional Acceptance Testing.
- Train and mentor Technicians on newly issued procedures and Field Maintenance Instructions (FMI).
- Receive, distribute, and communicate technical information to the site technical workforce.
- Serve as a liaison between KRC Project Engineering, site technical teams, and customers.
- Monitor and validate technical complaints from customers, as well as work reports from technicians and vendors.
- Address and resolve technical queries from customers at work sites.
- ?Ensure proper maintenance, use, and calibration of tools and equipment at the work sites.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in electrical engineering within the rail car, rolling stock, or closely related industries; 7+ years of experience with analytical troubleshooting of electronic systems is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong abilities in schedule management, cost control, and personal/team management.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Japanese (verbal and written) at a business level is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, including outdoor conditions in various weather.
- Physically capable of climbing stairs and ladders, and lifting, pushing, or pulling a minimum of 40 lbs.
