Forensic Structural Engineer

Overview:
USPRO is looking for proven Engineering resources to work with a client of ours. One position is in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and the second position is in Houston, Texas. These roles will begin as remote positions with site visits (as needed) but will eventually move toward local offices.
Employment type: Contract-to-Hire
Duration: 6+ months (with potential to convert to direct hire)
Responsibilities:
- Perform structural inspections for forensics.
- Investigate the origin and cause of failures, damages or defects in the residential and commercial fields and author reports.
- Analyze the failure of building systems, determine the cause of failures, evaluate the quality of construction or review design or maintenance procedures.
- Perform field investigations, lead multi-party examinations and documentation of damaged property.
- Research failure modes and code requirements as needed, prepare recommendations for repair and/or remediation as appropriate.
- Prepare reports and letters outlining the origin and cause of the damages to our clients.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical/Civil/Structural Engineering or a related discipline is required.
- Active PE is required (in the state of employment is preferred).
- Minimum 10+ years’ experience in design in a combination of residential, commercial and industrial setting preferred.
- Ability to work in inclement weather and various environmental conditions.
- Ability to work in high areas such as roofs or scaffolding, requiring physical agility, balance, and resistance to acrophobia.
