FPGA/ASIC Design Engineer
Indianapolis and West Lafayette, IN (25% travel between sites required)
Pay Range: $60.00-$68.00/hour
Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled FPGA/ASIC Design Engineer to join our team focused on advanced engine control system products. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to architect, design, verify, and test custom FPGA/ASIC solutions for next-generation control electronics. You will be deeply involved in the full product development lifecycle, from concept to certification.
This is an exciting opportunity to develop innovative embedded digital systems that power the performance and safety of aerospace propulsion systems.
Military experience equivalency may substitute for some requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and verify custom digital devices (FPGA or ASIC) for electronic engine control units
- Develop RTL using VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog and simulate/debug using standard tools
- Define and execute verification plans aligned with DO-254 standards
- Collaborate with hardware and software teams on architectural design and integration
- Perform synthesis, place and route, timing analysis, and generate test benches
- Document design artifacts for review and compliance with certification requirements
- Evaluate and optimize design flow for performance and power utilization
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electronics or Computer Engineering with 5+ years of experience; OR
- Master’s degree in Electronics or Computer Engineering; OR
- JD/PhD in a related field
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% between Indianapolis and West Lafayette, IN
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience validating FPGA hardware using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and debug tools (ILA, JTAG)
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as TCL, Python, or Shell
- Familiarity with both Windows and Linux development environments
- Hands-on experience with version control systems (e.g., Git, SVN)
- Prior use of Actel and Xilinx tool flows for full FPGA/ASIC development lifecycle
