Lead Superintendent

Pay Range: $110,000-130,000/year
Job Description:
The Lead Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all aspects of on-site construction. This role ensures project safety, quality, schedule, and subcontractor coordination while managing day-to-day field operations from groundbreaking through completion. The position requires strong leadership, proactive planning, and a focus on delivering high-quality results on time and within budget.
Military experience equivalency may substitute for some requirements.
Required Qualifications
- 7–10 years of experience as a Superintendent or similar construction leadership role.
- Proven ability to manage large-scale commercial construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction safety, QA/QC practices, and trade coordination.
- Proficient with scheduling software, construction documentation platforms (e.g., Viewpoint, PlanGrid), and MS Office.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- OSHA 30 certification required; additional safety certifications preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Management
- Enforce OSHA and site-specific safety requirements.
- Conduct daily site walks, safety reporting, and incident documentation.
- Lead safety meetings and coordinate JHAs and SOAPs with subcontractors.
- Maintain site security and emergency preparedness, including NFPA 241 compliance.
Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC)
- Develop and lead QA/QC plan in collaboration with project stakeholders.
- Oversee mock-ups, preconstruction meetings, and quality benchmarks.
- Monitor construction for compliance with contract documents.
- Manage punch lists, ADA/FHA compliance, and final acceptance processes.
Subcontractor Oversight
- Conduct pre-mobilization meetings and enforce safety onboarding.
- Ensure subcontractor scopes are understood and executed properly.
- Coordinate logistics, deliveries, daily housekeeping, and back charges.
- Lead weekly subcontractor meetings and enforce performance standards.
Document Control
- Maintain accurate daily reports, T&M logs, and shop drawing reviews.
- Ensure photo documentation and permit tracking are up to date.
- Manage project records including hot lists, inspections, and testing logs.
Scheduling
- Create and manage baseline and 3-week look-ahead schedules.
- Coordinate work sequences to eliminate trade conflicts.
- Communicate delays and maintain schedule integrity across trades.
Relationship Management
- Foster strong working relationships with owners, architects, engineers, and local authorities.
- Represent the project professionally with the public and neighboring properties.
- Coordinate with inspectors and ensure timely walkthroughs.
Project Execution
- Support project phasing, logistics, and union coordination.
- Attend Owner-Architect-Contractor (OAC) meetings.
- Track procurement, budget impacts, and site regulations.
- Coordinate weekend coverage and field staffing needs.
Leadership & Team Development
- Provide direction, mentorship, and performance feedback to the field team.
- Delegate responsibilities to promote growth and accountability.
- Champion training and continuous improvement.
