Machinist (2nd Shift)

Pay Range: $21.84-$24.76/hour
Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Machinist to join our manufacturing team. This position plays a key role in fabricating precision parts by operating a variety of manual and CNC machines. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge, experience with close-tolerance machining, and the ability to follow detailed blueprints and technical instructions.
The role requires a strong commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement. The Machinist must also be flexible in work hours, capable of lifting moderate weights, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
Military experience equivalency may substitute for some requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate various machining equipment such as mills, lathes, grinders, and saws to fabricate components to exact specifications.
- Machine parts to precise dimensions, maintaining tight tolerances and ensuring proper finish, concentricity, and parallelism.
- Select appropriate speeds and feeds based on material type and surface finish requirements.
- Use a wide range of fixturing techniques (shims, wedges, blocks, supports, chucks, etc.) to align and secure parts for machining.
- Inspect work using precision measurement tools to verify adherence to specifications and blueprint requirements.
- Perform in-process and final inspection of parts to ensure conformance to quality standards.
- Follow safety procedures and company policies to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Lift and handle parts up to 40 pounds; overtime and flexible shift work may be required.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of machine shop experience operating mills, lathes, and other machine tools.
- Basic understanding of machining methods and metal cutting properties.
- Familiarity with precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, indicators, etc.).
- Ability to interpret blueprints and work to tight tolerances.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience operating both manual and CNC machines including Haas CNC vertical machining centers.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Technical certification or completion of a trade school program in machining or manufacturing technology.
- Experience with coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) and ultrasonic parts cleaning equipment.
