Manufacturing Estimator

Pay Range: $80K-$90K/year
Job Description:
The Manufacturing Estimator/Planner handles preparing cost estimates, schedules, and production plans for plastic products. This role requires analyzing production processes and material requirements to ensure projects are completed efficiently, on time, and within budget. The Estimator/Planner will work closely with engineering, sales, and production teams to provide accurate pricing and timelines for both custom and standard manufacturing projects.
Military experience equivalency may substitute for some requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive and review RFQs from customers.
- Estimate time and confirm material costs from database and customer supplied blueprints.
- Obtain competitive bidding information on material and outside services and processes.
- Review changes to current jobs for cost impact.
- Communicate effectively with customers and vendors.
- Coordinate with purchasing member to ensure timely procurement of materials and components.
- Work closely with engineering teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and meet quality standards.
- Communicate with the sales team to align production timelines with customer expectations.
- Collaborate with quality assurance to ensure product compliance with standards and specifications.
- Prepare detailed quotes, proposals, and project schedules for customers.
- Maintain accurate records of estimates, plans, and revisions.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, or a related field (preferred)
- 3–5 years of experience in manufacturing planning, estimating, or production coordination, preferably within the plastics industry
- Proficiency in ERP/MRP software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and critical thinking skills
- Knowledge of plastic manufacturing processes, materials, and tooling requirements
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with customers, vendors, peers, and management
- Strong prioritization and organizational abilities
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with injection molding, extrusion, or thermoforming processes.
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles.
- Knowledge of CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) is a plus.
