Job Title: Material Estimator 4
Location: Denver, CO
Pay Range: $80,000 – $100,000
Summary
Material Estimator 4 is responsible for developing accurate material lists from architectural plans for use in residential, multi-family, and commercial construction projects. The ideal candidate will have lumber takeoffs experience, with a strong preference for residential construction but consideration will be given to those with commercial backgrounds. This role requires strong knowledge of framing concepts, practices, and codes within the construction industry. A strong belief in the mission and goals of the company, along with the ability to work effectively in a team environment, is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret architectural blueprints to produce accurate material lists.
- Develop detailed lumber takeoffs, including type, quantity, and specifications of materials.
- Ensure compliance with building requirements and municipal codes where applicable.
- Interpret design requirements using procedures, design manuals, and specifications.
- Generate detailed cut sheets for final construction use.
- Review and optimize material lists for accuracy, efficiency, and conformance to standards.
- Train and mentor new associates on takeoff software and ERP systems.
- Review takeoffs and bids prepared by team members to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Support the Estimating Manager with scheduling, QA processes, and workload planning.
- Demonstrate commitment to quality and continuous improvement while actively supporting customer needs.
- Collaborate with team members, contributing to a strong and cooperative work environment.
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the role.
Required Qualifications
- Lumber takeoffs experience required.
- Strong knowledge of residential framing practices (multi-family and commercial experience a plus).
- Ability to complete takeoffs for framing, siding, roofing, windows, and concrete.
- Familiarity with modular home takeoffs, including interior/exterior packages.
- Proficient in blueprint reading and blueprint takeoff software.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Exceptional attention to detail with pride in producing high-quality, accurate work.
- Ability to manage deadlines efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Associate degree in a related field preferred, plus 5+ years of relevant estimating experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
