Job Title: Resident Engineer-VTRAN Projects
Location: State of VT (Central / Southern).
Pay Range: $45.00 – $65.00/hour

Job Description:
We’re seeking a mid-level Resident Engineer to support transportation infrastructure projects for the Vermont Agency of Transportation. This role provides field-based construction oversight, working with contractors and project teams to ensure work complies with project plans, specifications, and DOT standards. The Resident Engineer will support daily field operations, construction documentation, and project reporting throughout the construction lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide on-site construction oversight for VTRANS transportation projects
• Monitor contractor work to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, and safety standards
• Coordinate with contractors, inspectors, and project team members
• Review and interpret construction plans, specifications, and contract documents
• Track construction quantities and assist with contractor payment documentation
• Prepare daily and weekly construction reports
• Maintain accurate project documentation and records
• Participate in project coordination meetings and communicate project status

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management preferred
• 3–7 years of experience in:
  • Resident Engineering
  • Construction Inspection
  • Civil infrastructure construction
  • Earthwork or transportation projects
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
• Experience working with earthwork contractors and civil construction teams
• Strong written communication and documentation skills
• Detail-oriented and self-motivated professional

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working on DOT transportation projects
• Familiarity with VTRANS or New England DOT construction standards
• Experience with construction reporting and project documentation
• AutoCAD experience is a plus

Military experience equivalency may substitute for some requirements
