Senior Data Vault Builder

Pay Range: $104,500 – $172,400/year
Overview
We are looking for a seasoned Data Vault Developer / Builder to support the implementation of Raw Vault, Business Vault, and Info Mart layers using Data Vault methodology. This role requires hands-on experience with VaultSpeed or equivalent tools (e.g., WhereScape 3D), strong SQL development, and a good understanding of data modeling, lineage, and integration patterns. The ideal candidate will have a track record of delivering performant, scalable data solutions in enterprise data environments, especially those leveraging Snowflake.
Core Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain Raw Vault components (hubs, links, satellites) using VaultSpeed or similar tooling (e.g., WhereScape 3D).
- Develop and optimize Business Vault and Info Mart layers to support business consumption and analytics.
- Implement performant ETL/ELT pipelines using SQL, views, stored procedures, and VaultSpeed-generated code.
- Interpret mapping documents and business rules; translate them into scalable and maintainable Data Vault models.
- Apply CDC (Change Data Capture) patterns and implement SCD Type 2 logic for historical tracking and accuracy.
- Monitor and tune the performance of data pipelines across all vault layers.
- Serve as a gatekeeper for source data profiling and validation to ensure design alignment.
- Generate technical diagrams and documentation to clearly communicate end-to-end pipeline logic from source to Raw Vault, Business Vault, and Info Mart.
- Ensure consistency with data governance, metadata standards, and VaultSpeed naming conventions.
- Collaborate with data architects, business SMEs, and analytics teams to clarify requirements and ensure business alignment.
Skills Qualifications
Required:
- Hands-on experience with Data Vault across all major layers: Raw Vault, Business Vault, and Info Mart.
- Strong experience designing and implementing Star Schema / Dimensional Models.
- Proficiency in VaultSpeed (WhereScape 3D experience is acceptable with willingness to complete VaultSpeed Academy training)
- Strong SQL skills, with experience building complex queries and transformation logic.
- Proficient in understanding and working with models in erwin or similar data modeling tools.
- Solid grasp of data lineage concepts, with the ability to produce lineage views in Snowflake.
- Experience in Snowflake environments, with a deep understanding of data warehousing best practices.
- Familiarity with metadata management, data governance, and MDM principles.
- This position requires occasional off-hours support based on business needs.
Preferred:
- Data Vault Certified Professional (DVCP) 2.1 certification
- Experience integrating with BI tools or self-service reporting layers
- Familiarity with Agile delivery frameworks (e.g., Scrum)
- Strong documentation and communication skills, especially when interfacing with business and technical stakeholders
Compensation
The wage range for this role takes into account a broad array of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to: skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The range below applies as long as the work is performed in Connecticut. We reserve the right to adjust the wage range if the position is performed in another location. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $104,500 – $172,400/year.
Education
Required:
- BA or BS in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field
- 8+ years experience
Authorization to work in the United States is required
