Senior Electrical Design Specialist

Pay Range: $50.00-$58.00/hour
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Electrical Design Specialist to lead the design and drafting of both electrical and mechanical elements of complex electrical/electronic systems. This role involves complete ownership of design processes, including wiring harness design, schematic creation, mechanical packaging, and documentation using industry-standard tools and practices. The successful candidate will play a key role in the development of robust, high-performance systems for military ground vehicle applications.
Military experience equivalency may substitute for some requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and draft electrical and mechanical aspects of electronic/electrical systems, including Line Replaceable Units (LRUs), chassis, housings, and system packaging.
- Create detailed wiring harness and cable assembly drawings from schematic diagrams and engineering concepts.
- Generate and verify schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, and CAD models for use by production, suppliers, and customers.
- Select appropriate components such as electrical connectors, wire types, shielding, terminators, and accessories based on system requirements and military specifications.
- Utilize Creo Pro-Cable (minimum 2 years’ experience) to model and route wiring harnesses and cable assemblies.
- Work with Siemens Capital Harness tools to ensure logical data integration and efficient wire routing.
- Apply standards such as MIL-STD-100, ANSI Y14.5/Y14.41, and GD&T in all design documentation and drawing creation.
- Create wiring harness schematics using Visio Technical or equivalent tools.
- Collaborate within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment, contributing to concept development, design reviews, verification, and validation efforts.
- Ensure all documentation meets data management and configuration control requirements.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 9 years of relevant experience with an associate degree in a technical field, or 5 years of experience with a relevant bachelor’s degree.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience using Creo, specifically with electrical and mechanical design capabilities.
- Extensive experience with electrical/electronic systems for military or ruggedized ground vehicles.
- Strong knowledge of CAD modeling, drafting techniques, and electromechanical integration.
- Deep understanding of wiring harness design, component selection, and cable routing.
- Familiarity with military specifications for electrical connectors and cables.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced engineering environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of electro-mechanical engineering tools and electrical engineering concepts.
- Prior experience in a defense or high-reliability engineering environment.
