Pay Range: $170K-$190K/year

Job Description:
We conducting a national search on behalf of a growing utility-focused engineering organization seeking a Senior Structural Steel Engineering Supervisor to lead and develop its structural engineering team.

This is a senior-level, hands-on leadership role responsible for supervising onsite, remote, and offshore engineering staff while actively participating in day-to-day engineering operations. The position provides technical oversight, ensures compliance with utility industry standards, and drives quality, efficiency, and workforce development across the engineering department.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct leadership and supervision to structural engineering staff (onsite, remote, and offshore).
• Assign work, establish priorities, and ensure schedules and project commitments are met.
• Review engineering deliverables for technical accuracy, constructability, and code compliance.
• Ensure compliance with ASCE, AISC, IBC, NESC, and applicable utility standards.
• Serve as a technical escalation point for complex structural steel utility projects.
• Act as a working supervisor contributing to daily engineering execution.
• Collaborate with Sales, Estimating, Project Management, and Operations teams.
• Lead onboarding, mentoring, and professional development of engineering staff.
• Participate in hiring decisions and workforce planning.
• Contribute to strategic planning as part of the leadership team.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• 10+ years of utility-related structural engineering experience.
• 3+ years leading or supervising engineering teams.
• Strong knowledge of structural steel design and utility regulatory standards.
• Proven leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Experience managing geographically distributed teams.
• Experience implementing engineering standards and process improvements.
