Job Title: Site Safety and Health Officer
Location: Washington DC
Pay Range: $60.00-$65.00/hour
Job Description:
Prepare the Site-Specific Safety Plans and Activity Hazard Analysis for assigned Business Unit projects; Ensure compliance to all Safety Policies and adopted Standards; Ensure personal protective equipment meets applicable OSHA/EPA requirements and employees are trained on proper use
Responsibilities:
- Conduct Safety Audits of assigned project sites ensuring work is being accomplished safely and occupational health is not compromised
- Safety training of all personnel assigned to project;
- Conduct project safety inspections with follow-up inspections of any open items;
- Review Subcontractor safety qualifications and attend Pre-Construction Meetings;
- Creation and evaluating activity hazard reviews; Regulatory compliance with OSHA and Ameresco standards and conducts accident and incident investigations; Development and Implementation of Corrective Action Plans;
- Work with project supervision to create safety solutions to safety problems; Foster and maintains a positive safety culture for the project personnel;
- Maintain all safety certifications as required by contracts; Conduct quarterly safety meetings for Project Staff; Produce Safety Reports of activities performed;
Required Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: B.S. Degree in Occupational Safety & Health Engineering or similar Field
- Minimum of 5+ years construction industry safety experience on similar projects, ability to effectively communicate safety within a project team
- An average of at least 24 hours of formal safety training each year for the past 5 years with training for competent person status for at least the following 4 areas of competency:
- Excavation; Scaffolding; Fall protection; Hazardous energy; Confined space; Health hazard recognition, evaluation and control of chemical, physical and biological agents;
- Construction Health and Safety Technician Certification EM385-1-1 40-Hr.
- Safety Certification Current OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification Current First Aid & CPR Certification NFPA 70E certification for Arc flash training
- Must be a US Citizen Proficient with Microsoft Office and other basic computer skills.
- Must be organized, proactive and have proven experience in OSHA Compliance.
- Skillful communicator in both verbal and in written communication. Excellent writing skills with proper grammar. A great listener who can communicate professionally and in an open and positive approach.
Military experience equivalency may substitute for some requirements.
