SMT Machine Operator

Pay Range: $20.00-$23.00/hour
Job Description:
The SMT (Surface Mount Technology) Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining SMT equipment to assemble high-quality printed circuit boards (PCBs) in accordance with manufacturing instructions and product specifications. This role plays a key part in ensuring production quality, efficiency, and adherence to company standards.
Military experience equivalency may substitute for some requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up, operate, and monitor SMT production equipment including pick-and-place machines, screen printers, and reflow ovens.
- Load feeders, reels, and components into designated machines according to build requirements.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance and basic troubleshooting on SMT equipment to minimize downtime.
- Conduct visual and automated inspections of assembled PCBs to identify and correct defects.
- Ensure product accuracy by following written manufacturing instructions, PLD drawings, and schematics.
- Maintain accurate production documentation and component traceability.
- Collaborate with production team members to meet daily output and quality goals.
- Adhere to safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Perform additional production duties as assigned to support team operations.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3–5 years of experience operating SMT equipment in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to read and interpret PLD and schematic drawings
- Strong understanding of SMT processes, components, and equipment operation
- Mechanical aptitude with troubleshooting and equipment maintenance skills
- Familiarity with PCB inspection and quality control standards
- Strong attention to detail with commitment to accuracy and product quality
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced production environment
- Reliable, self-motivated, and able to meet deadlines
- Ability to frequently lift and move up to 50 lbs.
