Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Stress Analyst to support structural integrity assessments across the full product lifecycle—from conceptual design to in-service operations. This role involves conducting advanced stress analysis using FEA tools, interpreting test data, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure mechanical integrity and performance in high-performance systems.
Candidates with gas turbine or aerospace thin-walled structures experience are especially encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate will also provide guidance and support to junior team members while contributing to process and methodology improvements.
Military experience equivalency may substitute for some requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct static, transient, and modal analyses of complex components and assemblies
- Perform system-level structural assessments, including Whole Engine Modeling
- Utilize FEA tools (preferably ANSYS Workbench and APDL) to build, analyze, and interpret models
- Plan and support experimental testing, including strain gauge placement, reading, and post-processing
- Analyze crack propagation and fatigue-related failure modes
- Correlate simulation results with experimental test data to validate models
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams including design, manufacturing, and quality
- Prepare and present technical reports and documentation to internal and external stakeholders
- Participate in design reviews, product safety reviews, and technical lifecycle evaluations
- Support continual improvement initiatives for engineering tools, processes, and practices
Required Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (due to export control and regulatory requirements)
- One of the following educational backgrounds:
- Associate’s degree in Engineering + 4+ years of related experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering + 2+ years of related experience
- Master’s degree or higher in Engineering
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in structural stress analysis, with hands-on FEA modeling
- Strong proficiency in ANSYS Workbench and APDL
- Experience with gas turbine components or thin-walled aerospace structures
- Familiarity with steady-state and modal dynamic analysis techniques
- Experience with crack propagation and fatigue analysis
- Prior exposure to experimental stress testing and strain gauge data interpretation
- Working knowledge of other FEA tools such as NASTRAN, DYNA3D, or NX
- Programming/scripting skills (e.g., MATLAB, Python, FORTRAN, C/C++) for task automation
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and technical documentation skills
