Test Technician

Pay Range: $18.50-$21.50/hour
Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Test Technician to join our Electronics Lab team. In this role, you will perform testing, troubleshooting, repair, and calibration of electronic systems and components, including PCB assemblies and real-time simulators. The ideal candidate is hands-on with strong technical acumen, capable of interpreting schematics, performing precision soldering, and collaborating with engineers to ensure product reliability and performance.
Military experience equivalency may substitute for some requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform functional, verification, and validation testing of electronic systems, subassemblies, and components.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electronic circuits, boards, and wiring issues using schematics, manuals, and diagnostic tools.
- Perform surface-mount and through-hole soldering, PCB rework, and modifications in accordance with IPC standards.
- Build and maintain test harnesses, cables, and fixtures to support lab and engineering activities.
- Operate, maintain, and calibrate lab test equipment and real-time simulators to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on lab instruments and test systems.
- Support Controls Engineers in project development, implementation, and testing activities.
- Identify and recommend improvements to test processes, tooling, and procedures for efficiency and accuracy.
- Maintain accurate documentation of test results, repair logs, and calibration records.

Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED and 3+ years of relevant experience; or
- Associate Degree in Electronics, Electrical Technology, or related field and 2+ years of experience; or
- Equivalent combination of education and hands-on technical experience.
- Proficiency with electronic test instruments (oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, signal generators, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and repair manuals.
- Skilled in soldering and PCB assembly/rework of surface-mount and through-hole components.
- Experience assembling electrical and instrumentation test systems.
- Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and electronic documentation systems.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen (required for this position).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification or familiarity with IPC-A-610 / J-STD-001 workmanship standards.
- Knowledge of ESD protection practices and clean lab environments.
- Experience with cable and harness fabrication.
- Working knowledge of root cause analysis and structured problem-solving methods.
- Experience with asset tracking, calibration systems, and facilities management.
