Warranty Supervisor
Location: Brooklyn, NY
Pay Range: $71K-82K/year
Job Description:
The Shift Supervisor – Rail Car Operations is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all site activities for their designated shift. This role ensures efficient work allocation, effective employee supervision, compliance with safety protocols, and the successful execution of operational goals. The supervisor will serve as the primary point of contact for coordinating daily tasks and progress with customers and internal teams.
Military experience equivalency may substitute for some requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management
- Develop and implement business strategies that align with organizational policies and objectives.
- Direct and coordinate daily work activities related to rail car operations.
- Establish and enforce work standards, schedules, and procedures for the shift.
- Audit and submit daily work vouchers and reports for personnel under supervision.
- Monitor and control labor hours to maintain budgetary targets and minimize overtime.
Team Leadership & Supervision
- Supervise, coach, and support clerical and technical staff on shift.
- Select, train, evaluate, and assist in the development of team members.
- Provide employee counseling, administer discipline, and address HR matters according to company policy.
- Review employee performance and implement improvements as necessary.
Customer & Vendor Coordination:
- Act as the shift-level liaison with customer representatives to ensure smooth workflow and communication.
- Prepare and maintain schedules of daily activities and track progress.
- Coordinate vendor activities to meet warranty obligations and ensure timely submission of required documentation.
- Ensure quick implementation of modifications and provide progress updates as needed.
Safety & Compliance
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
- Enforce adherence to all safety policies and procedures.
- Promote a safety-first culture and participate in incident reporting and resolution processes.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience in warranty, production, quality, or engineering
OR
Minimum 3 years of mechanical/technical experience with some supervisory responsibilities.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with proficiency in both English and Metric measurement systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in an active rail car or industrial environment.
- Strong computer skills with the ability to generate reports and manage digital workflows.
- Proficient in English (reading, writing, speaking).
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Capable of working under pressure and managing shifting priorities.
- Professional demeanor when interacting with internal and external stakeholders.
